Is the SG Gibson bass not a great insturment for this type of music??
I always see SG 6 strings but never a bass...

Is it because of their short scale?

The SG bass is pretty, but the short scale coupled with humbucking pickups makes for a muddy, undefined tone. I've heard they made regular-scale SG basses, too. Maybe those sound better?

They did make a longer 30.5 scale with single pickup at one time.
maybe the '72 Gibson bass is the one you mean??

The '69 model was 34.5 scale!!

Geof, what effect did Vincent use on the studio recording of "Review Your Choices"??? It reminds me of a Leslie, but it's hard to tell....

Hmmm, good question to which the 35 years has clouded — emphasis on clouded — the exact answer to. Obviously, the leslie tone was what we wanted, although I always felt it sounded wimpy on this track. I honestly don't recall if we had access in the studio to an actual leslie speaker or used some leslie pedal device. I'll run this by Greg next time we speak and update this answer then...
