A lot of my favourites have been already mentioned, but I'll add Simply Saucer, a Canadian band from Hamilton, Ontario. Not totally sure if their LP was actually released in '74, but the Cyborgs Revisited CD came out a few years back. The 10 or so songs from '74 are excellent raw, Stooges-meets-Hawkwind proto-punk, not totally unlike Rocket From The Tombs (but better, I think). The bonus tracks are from the later 70s, with different lineups, and are not as powerful, but I'd totally recommend the CD for the first half of it alone.
Yeah, I'd have loved to have seen the Fudgie Cactus show, two of my all-time faves. Photographer Cameron Davidson went and picked me up a copy of the Cactus DVD they were selling at the gigs so at least I have an idea of how they're doing.
By the way, for anyone unaware, Rhino Handmade just put out a second Live Cactus double CD, limited to 5000 numbered copies. The first one sold out, so this one probably will too. Killer sound and it's one complete gig with some great stuff like Parchman Farm, One Way...Or Another and Evil. Strangely missing from this one as well: You Can't Judge a Book. Everytime I saw them, this was one of the highlight live tracks. I'd also love to hear Restrictions and Guiltless Glider, but maybe I'm hoping for too much...

A few swedish bands put out doomy releases in the early 80s. HELS and FAITH each put out a single; the HELS one is particularly good. There's also the NEMESIS EP (pre-CANDLEMASS).
If you like BLACK HOLE, then any of the italian bands like DEATH SS, PAUL CHAIN, THE BLACK, and REQUIEM should appeal to you. Please note some of these are more late 80s/early 90s bands.
Among NWOBHM bands, there's the obvious WITCHFINDER GENERAL and PAGAN ALTAR. ARC's second single would also qualify; it's got a fuzzed-out sound kinda like ST VITUS.

This Necromandus track, Hung up Down, is awesome! Bill Branch had an amazing, soulful voice and Baz's guitarwork is very unconventional..
